1 "Shihitsu" is the point where the brush tip starts the stroke.
Put the brush tip on the paper at an angle of 45° and press the tip on the surface.

2  "Sohitsu" is the middle section between the start and the end of a stroke.
Move the brush with your whole body.

3  "Shuhitsu" is the end of the stroke where the brush is lifted.
Terminate the brushstroke steadily at an angle of 45°.
