VAJRASATVA

Height 21cm

Vajrasatva is regarded by Nepali Buddhists as the priest of the Five Dhyani, and is sometimes even called the sixth Dhyani Buddha. He is not represented in the stupa like the other Dhyani Buddhas, but there are independent shrines dedicated to his worship. Vajrasatva worship is always performed in secret and is not open to those not initiated in the mysteries of Vajrayana. Vajrasatva wears many ornaments, a rich dress and a crown, is white in color and sits in the cross-legged meditative pose of the other Dhyani Buddhas. He carries the vajra in his right hand with palm upwards against the chest and ghanta (bell) in his left hand which rests upon his left thigh.
