WHITE TARA
(Standing with frame)

Height 60cm

White Tara was born from a tear of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokitesvara, when he saw that the beings in Samsara were still in misery despite his efforts to liberate them. White Tara holds a very prominent position in Tibet and Nepal. Of her two forms, White Tara is regarded as a consort of Avalokitesvara and sometimes of Vairochana. She is sometimes regarded as Saptalochana, or Seven-eyed Tara. The practice of White Tara is performed to prolong life as well as for healing.
